MINA -- Membership Application by E-mail
     PIX_TITLE
Please join us.

An organization has been formed to initiate the reconsideration of the Fastener Quality Act where the Act's impact creates an unfair burden on the metric importing community.

The organization is called Metric Importers of North America, MINA.

There shall be no restrictions upon membership, merely an interest in pursuing the common goal of correcting the FQA.

The organization will communicate to as many affected government agencies as can be identified,

as well as the press and public. Where practical, communications will be consensus statements from the organization.

All member companies will be encouraged to contact as many government officials as possible. The organization will attempt to identify the most important officials to be targeted.

Our time to accomplish the tasks ahead of us is very limited. Please consider the importance of the Fastener Quality Act on your business, and your industry.

The FQA has been referred to as "a protectionist bill" and "causing restraint of trade".

Amendments made to the Act have created greater restraints upon importers; metric importers by the volume of demand will feel a greater impact than most importers. Certifications will require the disclosure of the manufacturing source of product; few suppliers/distributors will be willing to comply. The methodology of incoming inspection has not yet been determined. How will we know if all possible head markings have been registered and what happens if our supplier ships an unregistered product? How will an "original" certificate be divided to cover multiple smaller lots?

Please join with us to correct the portions of the Fastener Quality Act that unfairly impact metric fastener importers.
